Aurelio Marín is part of the second generation of a family of coffee farmers in La Palma, Chirinos, with his brothers learning the trade from their father — a prominent coffee grower in the area, owner of relatively large tracts of land. Aurelio spent many years working on his father’s farm, and in 2012, his father left him the La Guava plot, which included varieties such as Catimor and Nacional. Aurelio replanted this plot with the Gran Colombia and Catuí varieties.
Over the years, he worked hard and, with a lot of effort, managed to save enough to buy his own land. In 2019, he purchased the La Naranja plot, which he planned to plant only in 2022, with the varieties Marshell, Bourbon de Colasay and Geisha. Half of the plot has now been in production for 2 years, and the other half – for 1 year and 6 months. In 2024, Aurelio also purchased the La Palma plot, which is already in full production.
