Finca Los Naranjos is located in the Los Naranjos canton, hence the name. The farm has 22 manzana coffee plantations, with varieties such as Bourbon, Pacamara and Geisha, Pacas and Catimor planted on the farm. In total, there are 45 workers on the farm, increasing to 115 during the peak harvest period. Production is good on the farm, with an average of about 25 bags of green coffee per manzana (0.66 ha). There are shade trees planted throughout the farm, and they periodically take soil samples to check the nutrient balance and composition.

The farm follows the principles of the RENACER field school in farm care, applying the principles taught there to producers throughout the region. The field school, led by Sigfredo along with 6 field technicians, assists small and medium-sized producers in the area, focusing on best agricultural practices that are beneficial to the land and soil, as well as to coffee yield and quality.

The field school is located at Los Naranjos’ sister farm, Finca Noruega. At Finca Noruega, classes are held twice a month for students. There are 3 modules throughout the year, and these aim to focus on the 4 Rs that the program has developed for soil health.
